why do boys only see things in regular colors, like red, green, yellow, orange...they have no concept of turquoise, magenta, lavender, etc. Turquoise and Blue are different colors, why dont they see that? dumb...
Because those aren't colors, they're just shades of real colors. Red Green Blue. Everything else can be described in those terms. I'll throw in Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow just because they sell those colors for printers so they're nerdy. Though I prefer to refer to yellow as reddy-green. Also it is permissible to accept colors that have officially been associated with football teams. "Maroon" may be acceptable once ASU actually wins something, for example. Teams with real colors such as "Orange" and "Blue" are officially better, because they don't use made up colors. You might argue that "Orange" is a made up color in that it is not red, green, or blue. This is true, but since it was adopted by photographers early on as an essential ingredient to "autochrome" it passes the nerd-test as a real color. I hope this clears things up for you.
P.S. My personal hatred extends most deeply to "teal" or "aquamarine". It's blue-green. You can use "light" or "dark" if you want, but come one.
